Want to identify the top expenses your heating or cooling system is incurring? There's a simple formula you can use to determine the operation cost of any appliance.

Appliance/Equipment Wattage X Number Hours Used Per Day ÷ 1000 =Daily Kilowatt-hour (kWh) consumption (1 kilowatt (kW) = 1,000 Watts)

Multiply this number by your electric rate (kilowatt hour) for your daily expense associated with this product. Multiply by 365 to identify a full-year's cost.

Coffee Pot Example:

Consumes
1200 watts
Run time
x             2 hrs
Daily use
      2.4 KWH
Electric rate
x   $0.12/kwh

$0.288/day
$0.288/day  x 365 =  $105.12/year
